Metal angle rolling
Rolled steel angle, angle iron or RSA is used heavily in construction and fabrication. The ability to form the angle toe in or out makes it very versatile in applications such as stiffening bands, lintels and flanges.
Advanced Metal Curving has the capability and experience to roll equal and unequal angles. AMC has developed custom tooling to prevent deformation such as rippling or warping.

Capabilities
We are experts in angle rolling with over a century of experience. We can bend angles in nine different orientations, a claim not every metal bending company can make. Our range includes toe in, toe out, short toe in, short toe out, long toe in, long toe out, heel in, heel out and heel up angles to meet your specific needs.
Toe-out rolled angle rings have a shape resembling an Akubra hat without the top, with the toe out acting as the brim. Heel-in rolled angle rings look like, and can function as, hoists or winches. The most challenging orientation is toe in, which can result in a distorted horizontal leg (the toe in) if not done correctly. However, our skilled team can avoid this distortion using the appropriate methods and tooling. Additionally, we can produce rolled angle rings with off-axis bends (also called conical rolling), multiple radii or compound bends.
To get started, you can request a quote for your angle rolling needs or contact us for more information. We can work with a template, sketch or drafter drawing to bring your vision to life. If you're unsure about specifying the angle bends you require, we also offer a quick tutorial to guide you.
Refer to the Capacity chart below as a guide of angle rolling options offered by Advanced Metal Curving. If your angle size is not listed below, don't assume it cannot be done! Please don't hesitate to contact us to enquire.

Please note:
-
Material size: This list is a guideline based on MILD Steel. We curve any and all sizes and thicknesses in between. If your project requires a different material thickness or type such as aluminium, please contact us with the details.
-
Orientation: Refers to the direction of the curve for members of unequal size, such as RHS or Angle. These can be rolled multiple ways. Please refer to the images above to specify the orientation.
-
Minimum inside radius: Refers to the tightest radius possible, measured to the inside of a continuous curve. Altering material type, thickness, or the addition of straight legs, tangents or multiple radii will affect the minimum radius.
-
Minimum green required per length: Green is the term used to describe the material (wastage) required on either end for the machine to take hold. This material remains straight and needs to be removed after rolling i.e. 500mm green per length = 250mm green each end. The remaining length will be usable curve. How much green depends on the section size, orientation and machine type.
-
Material supply: AMC can supply or customer free issue.
-
Transport notes: AMC have an overhead crane and forklift on site to handle loading / unloading of over-sized semi-trailers. Dimensions and weight can be supplied to assist you to organise freight.

To ensure your project is completed with accuracy refer to the profiles below to describe your project and check out this page to precisely specify the curve required.

Unequal leg angles require additional specification: short leg to in, short leg toe out, long leg toe in, or long leg toe out.
Angle toe in
from 200mm radius and up to
200x200x20
For angle bending with toe in, the radius or diameter is usually specified as measured from the outside of the vertical leg.
Angle heel in
Contact us for capability sizes
For angle bending with heel in, the radius or diameter is usually specified as measured from the inside apex of the angle.
Angle toe out
from 150mm radius and up to
200x200x20
For angle bending with toe out, the radius or diameter is usually specified as measured from the inside toe.
Angle heel out
Contact us for capability sizes
For angle bending with heel out, the radius or diameter is usually specified as measured from the outside apex of the angle.
